Overview of the Chemistry DepartmentThe UWM Chemistry Department is one of the largest departments in the college. It offers two undergraduate degrees as well as a Master's program. Many of the faculty are qualified in other fields. They provide a great deal of support for students in the natural sciences and provide inspiration for science learning in general.There are three units for the UWM Chemistry Department. These are Laboratory Science, Laboratory Natural Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition to these units, there are various electives available for students to take. It is possible to earn a bachelor's degree in the Chemistry Department.UWM offers numerous opportunities for students to take science and math classes that are not offered by their university. For example, there are numerous math and science labs available in the biology and plant sciences labs. These labs provide the opportunity for students to study plants and their physiology. Furthermore, there are extensive programs in organic chemistry for those students who want to specialize in that field.The Department of Chemistry is located in an attractive building in the heart of campus. This building is one of the oldest buildings on campus. It provides ample study space for all the undergraduate students.The faculty of the UWM Chemistry Department has developed many programs in the field of organic chemistry. Most of the courses at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are also offered through the Chemistry Department. As an example, the UWM Biology Department offers courses in organic, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, physiology, physiology of humans, and physiology of plants.The primary goal of the Chemistry Department is to help students achieve high academic standing, graduation, and employment. To accomplish this, the faculty of the department offers regular seminars, workshops, and conferences. Some of the more popular workshops in clude Advanced Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Functional Organic Chemistry, Molecular Systems, Bioorganic Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Chemical Physics, and Applied Organic Chemistry.The Chemistry Department offers a variety of course options that are ideal for both the graduate and undergraduate student. Many of the undergraduate classes are taught by the faculty of the department. Other classes are taught by professionals in other fields such as teachers, engineers, and veterinarians.The chemistry department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is one of the largest and most important. It is a department that offers graduate and undergraduate courses in chemistry. Students should find the Department of Chemistry to be a great place to find coursework in the basic sciences.
